Camping Trailer Big Live in Trailer
Remember during COVID when trailers were a hot commodity? Everyone wanted to get out of the house. We kind of bought our two trailers around that time. The first was a camping trailer used up at the property for building. Then about a year later a really nice big trailer with three pullouts to live in and save money to build.
Near the beginning of October of 2024 we took our camping trailer back to town earlier than normal, hoping to sell to someone during hunting season. That didn’t happen. We sat in our big, beautiful trailer looking out the window, few feet away, at our camping trailer until the end of February 2025. What a relief when it sold.
With it taking so long to sell that trailer, we decided we needed to put the big trailer up for sale early, to give us time. One of our friends offered to let us live with them until the house was finished and our jobs had ended, as we worked toward a new season in life.
The trailer was in superb condition because we knew this was a short-term season for us. Our son had one of his employees power washed it for us. It looked great. April 1st came and we put it on the market and immediately had a woman who wanted it sight unseen. She even sent her son the money but when he saw we were living in it, even though it was super clean, he turned us down.
We hadn’t planned to move to our friends so soon, but it became very clear we were not going to be able to sell this trailer while still in it. This meant boxing up everything and taking it to our property, with a house already overfull of stuff. It’s amazing how much that trailer could hold. We took the skirt off the bottom and undid all the plumbing. When our landlord came home from her trip, we explained the situation and offered to pay her a little to store the trailer until it sold.
Moving to our friend’s home double our drive time to work but we were so thankful for their generosity to us. Very quickly we started reverse-camping. Now their home was the place we packed up to come to each week, clothes, food, the dog…
A couple of months went by with some ridiculous offers. We just kept posting and reposting. Finally, we had a buyer. While we still had a few things on our friend’s farm to remove, we were one step closer to our goal. Just so you know, I'm really okay with never sleeping in a trailer again:-)
