Sometimes, more than I’d like to admit, it really helps to have big strong muscles.
There are times in the process of trying to help Jer, that I feel like the child who wants to help but really isn’t making it any easier. Jer would tell you differently, but honestly, there are some things I just don’t have the physical strength needed. This weekend was one of those times.
We have two bathrooms, one downstairs, that was in the last blog, and one upstairs. The sink and counter space needed to cover seven-nine inches. The closest we could get was seventy-two. Getting another vanity really wasn’t a priority to gaining occupancy but we thought it would be difficult to get up the stairs after our banister is in.
We bit the bullet and purchased the one I liked best.
Thankfully, our grandson Ty and his friend Don, made the drive to help Jer get it upstairs. Getting the box up on the deck proved to be difficult due to the rain the night before. This thing weighs over three hundred pounds. We thought we could remove the counter and sink but they were securely attached.
Our stairs aren’t straight, they turn in the opposite direction halfway up. Once they had vanity halfway, there was lots of heavy breathing and discussion about how to get it up the rest of the way. They were successful in the end. Not did they get it upstairs but into the bathroom. Side note: the lights aren't attached yet but are motion sensing nightlights.
Jer and I are finding out that some of the plumbing wasn’t well thought out. The hot and cold water were almost in the right spot, but the drain is way to the right. We still aren’t sure if we will have to shorten a drawer to get it hooked up.
It seems this is how it often goes. We think we are going to complete a task but are missing some parts. We still haven’t found all the right parts for the downstairs bathroom. I’ve almost gotten to the point where I say, “Please don’t tell me we can’t finish this again.” Yet, I’m learning to let go a little more and to be at peace with the process. It helps… a little.
